You bought Clay so one person could build the waterfalls, the tiers and the buying-committee logic, and the whole team could prospect off it. Clay's own homepage says it plainly: "Build centralized workflows for any rep to run" (clay.com, checked October 2, 2026).
Then the reps sit in Sales Navigator and the CRM, with no Clay seat and no way into the tables. Some queue up requests for your GTM engineer, who turns into a list desk. Others ask for an Apollo seat so they can build their own lists, and now you pay for two sources of the same contacts. Two reps reach the same buyer from different lists. And when Clay comes up for renewal, the case for it rests on credits spent, because nothing connects a table to a closed lead.
