A data vendor cost calculator adds up what a seat-based contract stack really costs in a year (seats, overages, and the seats that sit idle through rep turnover) and sets it beside per-result pricing, where you pay only when a verified email or phone comes back. The output is cost per verified contact each way, and "one contract instead of three" with the numbers filled in.

2 contracts x 10 seats x $3,350 = $67,000 a year in licenses, before overage. Per-result pricing for the same 24,000 contacts: $9,540. The stack costs 7.0 times as much, and $6,700 of it pays for seats that sit empty while replacements ramp.
A seat pays for access. A result pays for a contact. Turnover only bills one of them.
Supered (2026). Data Vendor Cost Calculator. A 2-contract, 10-seat stack at $3,350 a seat costs $67,000 a year against $9,540 per-result for the same 24,000 contacts, $2.79 vs $0.40 per verified contact. https://www.supered.io/tools/data-vendor-cost-calculator/

Sources: Vendr marketplace pages, opened 2026-09-25: ZoomInfo median $33,500 a year (1,573 purchases); Cognism median $32,750 (94 purchases), with one buyer "using ZoomInfo in tandem with Cognism"; Apollo median $19,000 (101 purchases) and mobile overages "typically $0.50 to $1.00 per additional mobile credit"; Lusha median $15,999; RocketReach median $6,750. Cognism, cognism.com/pricing (2026-09-25): 10,000 credits per Standard seat. Clay, clay.com/pricing (2026-09-25): "one contract" to buy from 200-plus data and AI vendors; Growth "starting at $495/mo" with 6,000 Data Credits a month; "Data Credits start at $0.05 each"; no charge when an enrichment returns nothing. Bridge Group, 2025 SDR Metrics and Compensation report: 40% attrition, 3.0-month ramp. "$3,350 a seat", "roughly six credits per contact", and "200 contacts per rep per month" are Supered's arithmetic and suppositions, not vendor figures. Supered's own pricing is not shown on this page.
Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cognism, Lusha, and RocketReach are each one database. A rep who cannot find a phone number in one of them is stuck, so the org buys a second contract to fill the gap, then a third for a region the second one misses. Each contract is priced by the seat, and each seat carries a credit allowance with an overage rate above it. The stack grows because coverage is the problem and a single database cannot solve it. That is the arithmetic on the left side of the tool: contracts, times seats, times the per-seat price, plus overage on the contacts the allowances do not cover.
Clay is not one more database. It is an aggregation and routing layer across 200-plus data and AI vendors in its marketplace (Clay's own count on 2026-09-25; it said 150-plus earlier in the year, so the number is dated). Its waterfall asks provider after provider until one returns a verified email or phone, and the org pays per result. No seat. No charge for a lookup that came back empty. The right side of the tool prices that: the platform fee, plus Data Credits beyond the plan's allowance at Clay's published rate. Supered does not bring its own database. It brings Clay's waterfall, which is every database, routed. That is the whole reason we chose Clay as our only data provider.
The line that surprises buyers is idle seat-months. A seat contract bills the seat whether the rep is closing or has left. With SDR attrition at 40% and ramp at three months, a ten-seat team pays for about one seat in ten that is producing nothing at any given moment, and it pays that on every contract in the stack. Per-result pricing has no seat to leave empty. The calculator prices the waste with your own turnover number; for the median team it is not a rounding error.
Whether the contacts got worked. A cheaper contact that sits in the CRM untouched costs more per closed deal than an expensive one a rep actually calls. Run the prospecting funnel calculator for that half of the question, and read the B2B data providers hub for what each vendor meters and where the Vendr medians come from. The sales prospecting guide covers how a sourced contact becomes a worked one, and The State of Sales Enablement has the survey evidence that a process only produces to the degree it is inspected.
The per-seat default is the Vendr median ZoomInfo contract, $33,500 a year, spread over a ten-seat team, which is our arithmetic and not a ZoomInfo price. Vendr also lists a Cognism median of $32,750, an Apollo median of $19,000, a Lusha median of $15,999, and a RocketReach median of $6,750, all opened 2026-09-25. Type your own contract value divided by your seats to replace the default. Per-seat credit allowances and overage rates vary by vendor and are editable.
Per-result means you pay when a verified email or phone comes back, not for a seat and not for a lookup that returns nothing. Clay prices this way: Data Credits start at $0.05 each, and if an enrichment returns no result you are not charged. Clay is the comparison because it is not one database. It routes across 200-plus data and AI vendors in its marketplace, so one Clay contract can stand in for the second and third database contracts a team buys to fill coverage gaps.
A seat contract charges for the seat whether or not the rep is producing. The Bridge Group 2025 SDR report puts median SDR attrition at 40% and ramp at 3.0 months. So a ten-seat team loses four reps a year, and each replacement spends about three months ramping on a seat that is paid in full. That is twelve idle seat-months out of 120, one seat in ten, multiplied by every seat contract in the stack. Per-result pricing has no seat, so the same turnover costs nothing in unused licenses.
Supered does not bring its own database. It brings Clay's waterfall, which is every database, routed, and it runs on the customer's own Clay account. Reps get Clay's enrichment on the LinkedIn profile, the company site, or the CRM record they are already on, with no Clay login, and the sourced contact then enters a process Supered guides and inspects. Supered's own pricing is not part of this arithmetic; the calculator compares the contract stack against Clay's published per-result pricing only.
Supered puts Clay's waterfall in the rep's hands inside LinkedIn, the company site, and the CRM record, with no Clay login, then guides and inspects what happens to the contact after. Thirty minutes to see it on your team's accounts.
